Sohan Ariel Hayes

Artist Bio

Australian artist/animator Sohan Ariel Hayes creates moving works that push spatial technology boundaries through immersive environments including projection, virtual reality and interactive video. His animations illuminate connections between humanity and nature, reflecting on beauty’s fragility. Beginning in games development with award-winning Windy Towers (1999), Sohan established technical foundations for later visual effects and expanded cinema. As pvi collective’s artistic associate and HITLAB(NZ) mentee, he developed the award-winning location-based game Deviator (2012-2025). A regular Perth Festival contributor, Sohan served as animation director for Home (2016) and Boorna Waanginy (2017-2024). His extensive credits span film (The Paper Tale, Edge of Life) and immersive media (Future History of the Mid-West, Deviator), with works represented in numerous collections.
