Artist Bio
JC completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts at Edith Cowan University (2008) and Honours in Contemporary Arts (2010). Their multidisciplinary practice encompasses drawing, sculpture, performance, new media and installations. Since participating in the 2012 Proximity Festival, JC has focused on collaborative, non-gallery based participatory works that build resilience in an increasingly precarious world. Their recent work explores queer elder identity, working intergenerationally with queer kin to examine relationships of care beyond normative familial ties. JC’s notable participations include ArtsHouse’s Time_Place_Space: Nomad (2018), Performance Space’s Queer Development Program (2019) and creating Transmission for PICA (2020). Their commemorative work Remembrance was commissioned for the WA AIDS Memorial’s 30th anniversary and exhibited during WorldPride 2023.
